There were knights, princes, princesses, kings and queens at the New Addington Carnival last weekend.

Hundreds attended the two day event which took place at Milne Park on June 28 and 29.

Organisers wanted to make it the best Carnival yet as they put on a range of activities for all the family.

Highlights on Saturday included a little league football tournament, a karate display and performances from the Fairchild’s and Rowdean primary school choirs.

On Sunday there was the carnival procession featuring a marching band and steel drums. There was also a fancy dress competition and for children under five, a prince and princess competition.

Kirsty Pearce, one of the organisers of the festival, said: "A huge thank you from the committee to all the young people and parents who entered into the Carnival spirit and put themselves forward for all the competitions.

"And thanks to all who helped make the weekend a true community event."
