Two parents braved 13 miles of mud and dozens of perilous obstacles in memory of their baby daughter, who died of cot death.

Wife and husband Suzanne and Jason Stammers, of Brian Avenue, Sanderstead, tackled the Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for the Lullaby Trust charity.

They were one of a team of 25 from Croydon who completed the Winchester army assault course, facing 25 obstacles including fire, ice, 12ft walls and even electric shocks.

The couple's daughter, Lola, died suddenly of natural causes in 2008 when she was just five months old.

Hairdresser Suzanne, 39, who has three other children with Jason, said: "In the last five years it has been a bit too hard to talk about it, but now we are feeling stronger we want to do something to raise awareness of the issue.

"The course was a big effort but we all spurred each other on."

The team raised around £5,000 for the Lullaby Trust, which offers support for bereaved families and expert advice on safer baby sleep.
