Burglars took everything including the kitchen sink when they rinsed a newly renovated house.

Home-owners on Manor Road, Wallington, had just forked out £7,500 for a new kitchen, but within hours the entire kitchen had gone.

Pre-packaged cupboards, units, drawers, sink, a tap and a dishwasher were stolen from boxes which had been delivered on Monday (July 1).

The brazen robbers took the boxes through a ground floor window before builders arrived to fit the kitchen on Tuesday (July 2).

To do so they had climbed the scaffolding outside the building, entered through the open roof, which is undergoing a loft conversion, and removed flooring boards to get to the goods.

The home-owner, who did not want to be named, said: "The builders discovered the units had gone when they turned up for work on the Tuesday morning.

We are having the property renovated and we are desperate to get in and live there. We are devastated by what has happened. Burglars don’t think of the impact of what they’ve done - it’s just easy money for them."

The kitchen is from Magnet’s brand new range called ‘astral blue’and features pale blue, glossy fronts with silver handles.

A police spokesman said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have seen intruders breaking into the property or removing boxes from it overnight on Monday.

To steal this amount of property would have required a large vehicle and two or more people. So please let us know if you saw anything.

"Also, this is quite a distinctive kitchen so residents and builders can help us if they are offered a kitchen like this."
