Boundaries of a conservation area have been redrawn to include a post-war housing development.

Cabinet members approved changes to the Mitcham Cricket Green Conservation Area at a meeting on Monday, July 1.

The changes will see Glebe Court and parts of Church Path in Mitcham included in the conservation area, while Chatworth Court and Lewis Court will be removed.

Tony Burton, of the Mitcham Cricket Green Community and Heritage group, said: "It’s good that the boundaries are kept under review and that places like Glebe Court are now included.

"It backs up the area with a commitment to manage the conservation area and aspirations for improving it in the future."

Areas in a conservation area are deemed to contain "special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance" offering extra protection against potential development.
