A primary school teacher will be taking part in an unusual charity bike ride this summer by cycling from Turkey to Turkmenistan while wearing a superhero costume.

Will Hobson, 36, from Tooting, will pedal 4,000 miles next month to raise £100,000 for five charities close to his heart.

The Year 1 teacher was joined in Wandsworth Park on Monday by his young pupils, aged five and six, who also dressed up in their very own superhero costumes.

This summer's quest is the second leg of a six leg cycling odyssey around the world, which began last summer when he cycled from Tooting to Turkey.

Mr Hobson, who has worked at Brandelhow School for five years, said: "I've always been into fundraising, when I was 15 I cycled across England from coast to coast.

"It's addictive and you get to see the best of people, especially on your travels. I've been given free food, accommodation and even money from complete strangers who sympathised.

"It's really life-affirming stuff."
