Comedian Victoria Wood is urging people to don their walking shoes and raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Ms Wood is asking people to register for the Battersea Park Memory Walk, which is taking place on September 22.

The actress, who is a supporter of the charity, wants people to raise money for the charity as well as get healthy.

Memory Walk is the charity's flagship fundraising event and sees walks take place across the UK.

Fundraisers can sign up to walk a two mile route through the park or 10 miles passing Battersea Power Station and Westminster.

Ms Wood said: "I am really pleased to be supporting this year's Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk.

"It is an incredibly important cause and one I am proud to be involved with.

More than 800,000 people are currently living with dementia in the UK and this will rise to more than a million by 2021."

Alzheimer's Society works to improve the quality of life for people affected by dementia.
