Controversial plans to turn a care home into homeless accommodation have begun in earnest.
Sutton Council announced it wants to turn Oakleigh Care Home, on the Benhill Estate, into emergency accommodation for homeless families as they are currently being housed in bed and breakfasts in November.
Now Sutton Council is asking for experienced organisations to work with it and convert, maintain and managing the former care home site.
Deadline for expressions of interest and submission of a completed pre-qualification questionnaire passed on July 16.
Councillors voted to close Oakleigh Care Home- the last under its control - in 2011 as a cost cutting measure. It was the borough's only three-star care home.
Neighbours have objected to the plans as they fear it could lead to anti-social behaviour.
