Folk band Skinny Lister are set to play tomorrow night as part of the London Folkfest. Reporter Alexandra Rucki caught up with them ahead of the gig.

What can we expect to see during your performance at the London FolkFest?

We're expecting a fun gig as it's always great playing London. You can expect folk music with a punk party loving attitude. There'll be traditional English tunes and shanties mashed up with contemporary melodies. There'll be stomping and shouting, singing and swinging! And plenty of drinking too.

Any other acts you are looking forward to seeing?

All of them.

How would you define the folk scene in the UK?

It's exciting times. I grew up making dens in folk clubs and always enjoyed the diddle but I never thought I'd be taking folk to the main stages of Bestival or overseas to Fujirock in Japan and Coachella festival in California for that matter.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

We supported Flogging Molly in the states for four weeks where night after night we played for thousands. It's a tough thing to be the support band being the only thing standing in the way of a crowd and their favourite band but it was great, the crowds loved us and the drinks were plenty.

Where is your favourite place to perform and why?

Close to our beds so we can have a right good party afterwards with all the people we meet during the day or night.

And the worst?

A foyer. We will say no more. Though to be honest, it's easy to loose yourself in the diddle. One of the main reasons we got really into it, we'll that and getting into festivals.

What have you got planned for the future?

In the long run to remain fun and youthful and not have to join AA and in the short term get a newer more reliable tour van. Our Landy has broken down way too many times in the last month.
