The number of unemployed people in Sutton and Cheam has fallen by more than 150 in the last year.
Government figures show the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance (JSA) dropped in 154 since June last year and by 66 since May this year.
Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Burstow said part of the drop is down to Sutton Council's Opportunity Sutton programme that aims to encourage investment in the borough.
Mr Burstow said: "A drop in unemployment is very welcome, and shows that Opportunity Sutton is really paying off, with more businesses and more jobs for ordinary people.
"Jobs are the key to creating a stronger economy and fairer society that allows everyone to get on in life. We should be proud that Sutton and Cheam has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, and will keep fighting to make it even better."
