A Weybridge school has been ranked in the top 10 per cent of primary schools in the country for high attainment.

Cleves School received national recognition for the high achievement levels of pupils in the 2012 key stage 2 tests.

Schools across the country are ranked according to how well they performed in the exams by SSAT, an organisation that works with schools to improve the quality of education received by pupils.

The rankings compare how schools nationally performed by counting all pupils’ point scores in the tests.

Craig Smith, senior assistant headteacher at Cleves, said: “This is a prestigious achievement and one that we are very proud of.

“It goes to show that through our wider approach of developing the whole child at Cleves the children also excel academically.”

Cleves received some of the best results in the country and the SSAT said other schools could learn from their success.

Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT, said: “The results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the pupils, support staff, teachers and leaders at Cleves School and demonstrate their belief in high expectations, good teaching and ambition for every young person.

“The attainment measures show how schools are focussed on their performance and the outcomes of all their pupils.”
