Croydon’s waste and recycling collections will continue to run at earlier times while the heatwave continues.

Originally the earlier collections, running an hour earlier, were going to take place on Thursday and Friday.

But with temperatures predicted to stay high, Croydon Council have said the earlier times will continue until further notice.

Residents are asked to make sure they put out their bins and boxes earlier than normal so that they don’t get missed.

A council spokesman said: “The welfare of our contractor’s staff is important to us so we’ve made this decision in their best interests.

"We’re asking residents to put out their bins a bit earlier than usual, but crews will do everything possible to find any that might not have been put out by the time they arrive.”
