Jonathan Aitken, the former cabinet minister jailed for perjury, is set to speak about his remarkable journey from high office to a cell in Belmarsh Prison.
On his release Mr Aitken began a new life as a broadcaster, author, biographer of world leaders and campaigner for human rights.
Taking as his theme 'from power to prison to peace', Mr Aitken will address a special public meeting at St Paul's Church in Howell Hill, East Ewell.
Free tickets have now been released for the event, which includes an interview, the chance to ask questions and an informal reception with coffee and cake.
In 1995 Mr Aitken resigned from the cabinet to pursue the Guardian with the ‘sword of truth’ after reports he let an Arab associate pay his bills at the Ritz hotel in Paris.
However, he later abandoned the libel case when vital evidence emerged at a late stage in the trial. In 1999 he was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
On the night there will be collection for his work with other ex-prisoners.
