Pupils at Camden Junior School have joined the fight to stop their school becoming a Harris Academy.
Parents and the council united in a campaign against Camden Junior School, which is in special measures, joining South London’s Harris Federation of academies.
Now a group of pupils have taken things into their own hands and written to education minister Lord Nash stating their preference for Greenshaw High School, in Sutton, to sponsor their school.
The Carshalton primary school has been told by the Department for Education it must become an academy - with the preferred sponsor being the Harris Federation.
However, campaigners want the school to be sponsored by Greenshaw as they feel a local school offers the best future for Camden.
Over 1,200 people have signed a petition against a primary school in special measures becoming a Harris Academy.
