A waste company manager has responded to a poem complaining of bins not emptied in Chessington – with a poem of his own.

Paul Chapman, contract manager for Veolia in Kingston, replied to the York Way resident:

“To all the residents in York Way.

“A mistake was made on collection day

“It left you with a smelly bin, with rotting food there within.

“Communications went to and fro, but the bin remained and smelling so.

“We did turn up, but it was late, we’re sorry we left you in that state.

“The bin’s now empty; the smells have gone

“We’re investigating what went wrong.

“It appears we received your dilemma, but admin bundled this together

“With other things gone wrong that day.

“And this is where it all went wrong and how your collection took so long.

“Collection made, the smell has gone, we’ve investigated what went wrong.

“So the only thing left to do is apologise to all of you.

“A heart felt sorry goes out today to all the residents of York Way.”

The original complaint read in part:

“Filthy, rotting rubbish

“Making such a stink

“Veolia please take it away

“It’s your job I think?

“We’ve spoken to Veolia

“No one seems to know

“Who is meant to sort this out

“And make this problem go.”
