A family is furious after a housing association took away their bikes and “disposed” of them as part of a clean-up session.
Bus driver Andrew Weems, 40, from Radcliffe Gardens, Carshalton, could not travel to his job as a bus driver in Epsom on Friday morning because Sutton Housing Partnership had taken his £350 mountain bike from a communal area.

They had also removed his 17-year-old son James’ £200 bike and his 5-year-old son Joel’s £70 bike which had been left in a communal area.
He said: “They took everything down stairs but I’m more interested in my bike and my son’s bike. I have had to phone up work and say I can’t come in.”
His wife Jo added: “It’s madness. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s his pride and joy that bike.”
A spokesperson for Sutton Housing Partnership said: “In response to complaints from other residents at Radcliffe Gardens and due to health and safety concerns, we wrote to all residents of Radcliffe Gardens to remind them of their obligations and warned them that any items that were not cleared would be removed by us.
“The resident concerned has acknowledged receipt of this letter. Our policy is to take and dispose of all removed items.”
