Croydon's local studies library is moving to a different location in the Croydon Clocktower building.

On Friday August 16, the existing local studies library will close and more than a hundred years worth of archive material will be transferred to the new ground floor research room.

From September 10, the borough’s public archives will be open for 30 hours each month.

The new research room will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.30am to 5pm.

A new events programme will be published in September.

Councillor Tim Pollard, Croydon Council's cabinet member for children, families and learning, said: “This is a great example of how we can continue to improve our services, even at a time when the council is facing extreme financial pressures.”
