Sutton Council launch new photography competition for snap happy residents
Amateur photographers are being asked to capture the borough's park life.
The Snap Happy competition challenges local people to take shots of their favourite Sutton park and enter their images for a chance to win cash prizes.
Entries will be divided into three categories – adults (18 and over), young people (aged 12 to 17) and children (aged up to 11) with a panel of judges deciding on an overall winner.
Each category will have a top three with winners receiving £100 worth of high street shopping vouchers. Second place will get £50 worth of vouchers while third will receive £25 worth of vouchers.
Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of the environment and neighbourhood committee said: "With so many beautiful open spaces throughout Sutton people will have a hard time narrowing down which location they want to use.
This is a chance for local people to get creative, explore the borough and enjoy what Sutton has to offer. I'm looking forward to seeing the entries and hope lots of people dust off their cameras and send in their shots."
Sutton has more than 80 parks and recreation rounds, providing more than 400 hectares to explore and picture; the same size as about 550 football pitches.
Entries can be made now with the closing date being November 10, 2013. Winners will be notified by December 10, 2013.
Emails must not exceed 10MB. Entries should include a full name, age, address, email, telephone number, picture title and where it was taken. No more than six photos can be entered per person.
