Knights battled it out on horseback for jousting tournaments at Hampton Court Palace.
Visitors to the Tudor palace were transported back in time as King Henry VIII and his party hosted closely-fought clashes at his favourite palace each day on the August bank holiday weekend, except Saturday, when festivities, jousting excepted, moved inside due to the weather.
The brave knights jousted in honour of the birth of the Princess Elizabeth and were cheered on by crowds of spectators at the east front gardens.
Families joined the King’s celebrations, which included equestrian hunting games and displays of his majesty’s prized hawks and hounds in the palace courtyards and gardens.
