New plants and shrubs donated by Waitrose have brought a Hersham garden back to life.
The supermarket donated the greenery for Hersham Memorial Gardens as part of its nationwide planting programme to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its partnership with John Lewis.
The trees and shrubs were planted in April with the help of Hersham in Bloom and have settled in and matured over the summer months.
The mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Mike Bennison, unveiled a wooden plaque at the gardens to mark the official opening on Monday, August 12.
Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services, also attended.
She said: “The new trees and shrubs have made a real difference to the memorial gardens and contributed to make this space a more inviting place where to spend some peaceful time a few steps away from the green.
“I would like to thank Waitrose for their generosity and the Hersham in Bloom group for their unwavering support.”
