Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway said an embarrassing exit from the Capital One Cup at League One Bristol City proves they must buy new players.
Goals from the Robins' Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Bobby Wagstaff meant Owen Garvan's last-gasp volley was mere consolation in a 2-1 defeat.
Holloway - who made 11 changes to the side beaten 2-1 by Stoke City on Saturday - had already hinted that a busy week in the transfer market lay ahead after two Premier League games without a win.
Names connected to the club include Nicklas Bendtner and Joey Barton, while the only addition to the back four - Florian Marange on a free transfer from Bordeaux - started last night's shock defeat at Ashton Gate.
Holloway said: "It's obvious isn't it? We need some wide men and we need to address the goals and that is what we'll be doing.
"It certainly will be a busy rest of the week. I don't know where it will go and how we will end up, but we will get some players - you can see we need them."
