Champion boxer Gary Mason has been immortalised by the community who loved him.
A mural and memorial bench were unveiled in Wallington at the weekend to celebrate the life of the former British Champion from the Roundshaw estate who was tragically killed when he was knocked off his bike in January 2011.
Figures from the boxing world, family, and charities whom Mason helped, all paid tribute to the sporting great at The Phoenix Centre on Sunday, August 25, where are mural was revealed.
A spokesman for the Mason family said: "We are delighted with the mural at the Phoenix Centre and the bench opposite St Paul's church to mark Gary's memory.
"These are wonderful, fitting tributes to Gary and we are very proud of his achievements and what he stood for during his life.

His legacy will continue through the Heartbeat within the Community Project, as Gary had intended, to introduce drumming as a form of therapy to everyone."
Mayor of Sutton Sean Brennan, said: "It was a really wonderful occasion enjoyed by Gary’s family and many friends who turned up in great numbers.
We were reminded how much he had contributed to the community and how inclusive his approach was with his exciting drumming programme."
