I write in response to the report on page 9 in the August 15th issue “Laptop stolen from cancer mum”.

This was a despicable crime committed by a nasty little scum bag, but how many times do people have to be told to close and lock their windows when they go out before they take notice?

And how many times do people have to be told to backup their computer data before they take notice? You’d also lose all of your data if the computer hard drive packs up.

It’s not difficult to backup a computer. Purchase a couple of large capacity memory sticks or remote hard drives and either use the backup software on your computer to backup, or copy all the files on to one on one day and on the other the next day and alternate them each day.

Then if one back up goes down, you have only lost one day of backed up data. And keep the drives away from prying eyes.

If you don’t know how to do it, find out from someone who does, or look on the internet, or buy a book on the subject. There has recently been an advert for a book on the television.
