Sutton's MPs have backed the decision to recall Parliament to discuss the worsening conflict in Syria - but have expressed misgivings over Britain launching military action.
But Paul Burstow says he is "unconvinced" military involvment in the crisis is appropriate.
Both Sutton and Cheam MP Mr Burstow and Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake have said it is right that the UK Parliament be recalled from its summer break to discuss the situation in Syria, where it is alleged chemical weapons have been used.
The Liberal Democrat pair have both said they will be in the House of Commons tomorrow (Thursday) for the special session.
Mr Burstow, who opposed the war in Iraq, says he is "sceptical" about British military intervention in Syria and has questioned the legality of such a move as well as the potential long-term consequences.
He said: "The Syrian government has clearly committed crimes against its own people. Those responsible must be held to account.
"I am unconvinced that a military intervention would help in the short-term, or ensure long-term stability.
"I would need to be persuaded of the value of any British military intervention."
Mr Brake took to Twitter to back the decision to recall Parliament earlier this week. He said: "Right that Parliament should be recalled to discuss Syria on Thursday."
The Sutton Guardian's online poll found 50 per cent of our readers said it is right Parliament was to be recalled tomorrow, while 29 per cent said MPs should stay on their breaks and 21 per cent said they should not be on holiday in the first place.
