One of football’s great feel good stories has been documented in a new book.

AFC Wimbledon: A Pictorial History, by sports journalist Graham Moody, 30 of Gladstone Road, Wimbledon, charters the journey of AFC Wimbledon from the Combined Counties League to League Two over the past 11 years.

Mr Moody spent 18 months as the dedicated AFC Wimbledon reporter for the Wimbledon Guardian cementing his love for the club.

In 2002, Wimbledon supporters saw their team moved 56 miles north to Milton Keynes and renamed the MK Dons in one of the most controversial decisions in recent football history forcing fans to form phoenix club, AFC Wimbledon.

Mr Moody, said the book documents how the club got from having nothing in 2002 to where it is now, back in the Football League.

He said: "The club’s story is almost completely unique.

"There have been other clubs formed by fans but the sheer way in which the supporters reacted to seeing their club moved and taken away from them was remarkable.

"If I had to pick a favourite moment it would have to be the 2011 Conference play-off final victory that got Wimbledon into the Football League.

"Writing about it again and going through the masses of pictures from that day was a joy."
