A serial bike thief who stole more than £3,000 worth of pedal cycles from Kingston has been caught after being spotted with an angle grinder and wire cutters.

Tazul Islam, 27, from Kedleston Walk, Bethnal Green, admitted stealing seven bikes from across the borough between May and June this year, worth £3,159 in total.

One of the bikes was stolen from Norbiton station on June 7 from George Alleway.

Six others were stolen from elsewhere in the borough from their owners.

He will appear at South West London Magistrates’ Court later today, having already pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft of a pedal cycle.

He also admitted having wire cutters and an angle grinder in Old Ford Road, east London on August 21 and assaulting police officer PS Dave Fairlie in Bethnal Green police station on the same day.
