To celebrate the 35th anniversary of plant conservation charity Plant Heritage, green-fingered residents and lovers of all things outdoors can enjoy free entry to Painshill Park.

Upon arriving to the 18th century landscape garden, visitors can head off and explore the 158-acre wonderland which contains the John Bartram Heritage Collection of trees and shrubs, which was awarded full collection status by Plant Heritage in 2006.

Among the attractions visitors can enjoy are the magic follies and the Walled Garden, which contains numerous plants and flowers.

For those who want to experience everything Painshill has to offer, light lunches and afternoon tea can be purchased in Mr Hamilton’s Tea Room.

The Cobham attraction is one of 35 National Collection holders showing off their gardens to celebrate the special anniversary, and will give visitors the opportunity to see some rare and breathtaking plants.

Speaking highly of the special day is gardener TV personality Alan Titchmarsh, president of Plant Heritage.

Titchmarsh says: “This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for garden lovers in Surrey to discover some of the beautiful and diverse plants held in their local national collections.”
