A Mitcham born man has taken part in a charity triathlon to raise money for a disability charity
Edward Aboagye, 27, took part in Tri Together on the anniversary of the Paralympic games at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre September 1 in support of Leonard Cheshire Disability.
The event, now in its third year, is specially designed for disabled and non-disabled people to swim, bike and run side-by-side.
Mr Aboagye, a database officer at the charity, formed a relay team with two colleagues, James Dungate and Thomas Palmer.
The team finished the 5km run, 15km cycle and 400 metre swim in one hour 24 minutes.
He said: "It was a really sunny day which added to the great atmosphere at Tri Together.
"We are very competitive so were pleased with our finish time.
"The event was really well run with lots of people cheering us on."
Mr Aboagye’s team helped raisemore than £1,000 for the charity.
He said: “I was really pleased with how much we raised and we had a lot of fun organising events.
“We even held a summer party where I had to take a cream pie in the face – but it was worth it!”
Sarah Ball, events manager at Leonard Cheshire Disability, said: "Like all charities we are very reliant on fundraising and are hoping to raise £100,000 from our fundraisers’ efforts to help us to continue our work with disabled people at our services across the UK."
