Police helicopters, dogs and extra officers have been deployed after three attempted burglaries in the same street this week.

Surrey Police informed residents that air support, police dogs and extra officers had been called in to try and catch the burglars, following the string of incidents in Kinross Avenue, Worcester Park.

An email sent out by the force yesterday said: "The railway line is suspected to be being used as their escape route.

"Please be aware and all we would ask is for you to report any suspicious people or activity as soon as possible to 999 especially if you see anyone on the tracks not wearing official uniform."

Epsom Borough and Surrey County Councillor Eber Kington said a resident called him yesterday morning to ask why noisy helicopters were flying about.

He called the police and was told that they were looking for the burglars on the railway lines.
