Woodcote Green Horticultural and Cookery Show to host celebrity chefs Nancy Lam and James Wong in Wallington
Now in its fourth year, this popular community based show draws entries from around the region and offers prizes in excess of £4,000
Celebrity chefs will be among the attractions at this year's Woodcote Green Horticultural and Cookery Show.
Television Chef and restaurant owner Nancy Lam will be showing visitors sophisticated ways to combine oriental ingredients and flavours with mouth watering results.
Ethno botanist and television presenter James Wong will wow the crowds with his electric daisies that add a real spark to the menu.
On Sunday September 22, author, writer, and Leiths School of Cookery Lecturer Max Clark will be demonstrating a simple, no-nonsense olive bread recipe to bake at home.
Now in its fourth year, this popular community based show draws entries from around the region and offers prizes in excess of £4,000.
The show will be officially opened on Saturday September 21 by the Deputy Mayor of Sutton at 2pm. The winners will be announced and prizes awarded from 3-4pm, including the winning entry in the hotly contested School Garden category.
The entries into the eighty or more classes will be staged on Friday September 20 from 9am-8pm and on the morning of Saturday 21 from 7-9am.
General Manager Phil Barnden, said: "We are very excited about this years show, It's been a great growing season and we are really looking forward to seeing what our local community has produced for the show. Last year the turn out was excellent, despite the poor summer, this year we anticipate the show of the century."
Running alongside the linen clothed tables staging flowers, fruit, vegetables and cakes, jams and bread, will a series of entertaining events and dynamic demos to entertain the whole family.
Throughout the weekend on both Saturday and Sunday and during judging there will be performances from the Oxted brass band, reptile and insect displays from Beaver World to amaze the children, tours behind the scenes at the nursery, birds of prey, ponies and fun and games from the Diamond Centre, wood turners, beekeeping displays and much much more.
