A Hersham schoolgirl could see her drawing dropping on to the doorstep of the nation, after it was shortlisted for a Christmas stamp design competition.

Angel Dan, 11, who attends Bell Farm Junior School, was one of 13 youngsters from the south-east whose design has been shortlisted by the Royal Mail.

The budding artist’s effort will go to the next stage of the competition, where judges in each region will choose the top two to represent the south-east in the national final.

Prince Charles will head the panel of judges choosing the winning designs, which will be used on first and second class stamps during the festive period.

This year will be the first year since 1981 that children have designed the Christmas stamps, with more than 240,000 entries received from children aged four to 11.

Angel’s design can be viewed online at royalmailstampcompetition.com and the winning designs, which will be approved by the Queen, go on sale on November 5.
