A "thunderous crashing" woke residents on Saturday morning when a huge old oak tree fell to earth.
Graham Legg said: "This massive oak tree fell down onto the entrance and car park of King George VI playing field in Poole Road at 4.30am.
"Many local residents were awoken by the thunderous crashing."
Another tree also appeared to have fallen down at the entrance of the nearby Harrier Centre, in Poole Road that day.
