A vibrant and soulful African children’s choir will be performing live in Chessington next month.
The Grammy award nominated troupe will sing African songs and gospels as well as hymns for one night only in the borough as part of their UK tour.
The group aim to showcase their rich culture to raise awareness of Africa’s many orphaned and abandoned children.
Donations to the group support education programmes for them and children just like them in their native towns.
David Moss, centre manager at Chessington’s King’s Centre, says: “I am very excited. This will be the third time we have had them but they have not been here for a few years but it is always a great event and we are delighted to have them back.
“They sing a mixture of African songs and also Christian hymns set to African music where they play the drums too.”
The African Children’s Choir has performed on some of the world’s greatest stages including the Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Garden, London Palladium, the White House and the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels.
The children have also performed with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keyes, Keith Urban, Faith Hill and Wyclef Jean.
