I recently received a letter from Croydon Council, stating that we have been removed from the housing transfer list. We have been on this list now for roughly nine years awaiting a move to a 3-bedroom place.

Me and my husband have three children; our son who is 17 and our two daughters of nine and six years of age.

We currently live in a 2-bed flat from Croydon Council, which we have lived in for 16 years now. Hence why we are needing 3 bedrooms.

At the moment my three children all share a room, which I believe is not right, considering the age difference and gender.

Also to have been waiting so long to be moved and now to be told we off the waiting list. I think this is a disgrace, we had an over crowding officer come to visit us too a few years back who even said that we will be moved very soon. We also got in contact with our local Mp a while ago, but she couldn't help either.

When I received this letter, my husband and I went to Croydon council to ask why and for what reason. Their reply was that we where not the only people to receive this letter: 7,000 people received it and you have the right to appeal. That is what we have done.

I'm outraged that Croydon Council can treat us like this, we work hard and pay our taxes so they can build themselves this lovely new office block.

While we struggle to keep our family going, as we are so overcrowded we spend our lives arguing, my son is 18 on the 1st of November this year.

Surely its wrong to share with his two little sisters. He failed his GCSE cause of the lack of privacy to study. We have always held on thinking one day we will be moved.

I believe the council is wasting money on so many things and forgetting about the things people really need.

I also believe that 7,000 people received the same letter to make their figures look better. So I completely understand how the family feel.
