A vigilant security guard helped catch three burglars who now find themselves in jail for trying to steal from a Beddington warehouse.

David Petengell, 32, and Nicholas Petengell, 38, both of Amity Grove, Raynes Park, and homeless 22-year-old Reece Dungey have all been jailed for 14 months each after admitting breaking into an electrical warehouse in the Beddington Trading Estate off Bathhouse Road on Friday, August 2.

The trio were caught after a security guard spotted them going back and forth between a warehouse and their white Ford Transit van.

The eagle-eyed guard called police who arrived and searched the van. They found electrical equipments worth hundreds of pounds.

Officers immediately searched the area and found the three men. One tried to convince police he had been shopping at nearby Asda despite having no bags and another kept changing his explanation for being in the area.

The third was found cowering in a pile of wooden pallets.

The three men pleaded guilty to burglary and were sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on September 13.
