A brothel running from a single bed flat above a Rose Hill shop was shut down by police yesterday.
Officers entered the flat to find two Brazilian women aged 33 and 40 at 4.30pm. One said she was married, the other was wearing a towel.
A pornographic film was playing on a TV in a bedroom where towels were laid out on the bed.
A man arrived at the flat shortly after the officers arrived. He claimed to be "just checking the tiles" and left promptly.
Police enter the flat
Police contacted the landlord who arrived and changed the locks on the flat. The supposed tenant no longer lives at the flat and has been asked to contact police.
Officers are making enquiries to establish whether the women were working voluntarily or if they have been trafficked into the country.
Sergeant Kathy Morteo said police would be contacting landlords to ask them to make sure they visit their properties regularly to check they are not being used illegally.
She also encouraged members of the community to keep an eye out for suspect activity including different men visiting premises during the day and evening and windows and blinds being kept shut all day.
If you have suspicions about a property you can call police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
