New Malden’s Market on the Square has been moved and given a revamp in time for its launch.

The market will now be called the New Malden Farmers’ Market and will be moved from St George’s Square to the car park of the Fountain pub, which is in Burlington Road.

The first New Malden Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 9am.

Market manager Tessa Wright said: “We had to move because of the wind on the square.

"We thought it would be better to move before winter set in – before the wind moved us.

“It’s going to be a really great day with lots to do and eat.”

There will be performers, musicians and different food stalls at the market.

The market has also won a commendation from the Time and Leisure, Food and Drinks Awards 2013, based on its predecessor.
