Youngsters will get the chance to show their skills to potential employers at a series of special open days.

Croydon Commitment, a charity which works with a number of charities and businesses to support the community, has teamed up with Jobcentre Plus.

The aim is to give 16 to 24 year-olds insight into different workplaces.

Young people will get the chance to experience working life for a day during October.

Ian Robinson, chief executive of Croydon Commitment, said: “With major developments about to come to fruition, including Westfield and Hammerson’s £1bn regeneration of the town centre, it is important our young people are ready to enter work.

“We aim to give young people an understanding of what to expect from an office or workplace environment, a clearer idea of what they want to achieve and the confidence to go for it.”
