A brass band, balloons and cakes filled a funeral directors as part of a day raise money for Princess Alice Hospice.

Sandra Nuttall and Sue Pursey, from the Ashford branch of Lodge Brother, decided to support the Esher hospice as part of the community project initiative.

The Egham Brass Band played music to greet visitors on their way in to the fundraiser, and inside people enjoyed tea and cakes and take part in a charity raffle.

The event on Saturday, September 21, raised £350 for Princess Alice Hospice and Beverly Lodge, director of Lodge Brothers, and Richard Leachman, Ashford branch manager, visited the hospice last week to present the cheque.

Mr Leachman said: “It was a tremendous opportunity to reach into our community and raise funds for a fantastic local charity. The day went really well and we are pleased to be able to support Princess Alice Hospice.”

Princess Alice Hospice needs to raise £8m each year to provide its services for free and rely on the community to help them raise 76 per cent of their target amount.
