A six-year-old girl is giving away her toys to the hospital that saved her life.

Babette Morton, her brother Sonny, 10, and sister Stevie, 3, want to give something back to the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital where Babette was treated for leukaemia.

The Robin Hood Infants School pupil is now in remission but still has to go to hospital for regular checkups.

The family plan to donate books, toys and bric-a-brac to the hospital for use in their children’s ward or to sell in the shop.

Her mum Kirsty Prescott, 42, said: "She was diagnosed early 2011. Funny things like bruises appeared - things you don’t think are really important like a nose bleed. You realise after a while your child’s not right.

"It was a bit of a shock; we don’t have cancer in the family at all. She was only four at the time.

"She’s doing well she’s been off treatment for about five months. She just has to have regular checkups at the Marsden - she responded so well to the treatment they don’t think it will come back.

"She lost her hair three times but that’s growing back now.

"We were quite lucky as the Royal Marsden is in Sutton. Our family and friends have been raising money since she was diagnosed; it was just something to take our minds off it. We raised £14,000.

"I just want to continue that. It is easy to just forget now she’s off treatment but the hospital is fantastic. I thought let’s clear out the toys and give them to a good cause.

"They are so lovely to the children - the nurses are fantastic."
