The works of an award-winning short story writer will be celebrated at the Rose Theatre this weekend.
Alan McCormick, Kingston University's writer in residence, will be introducing readings from his short story collection Dogsbodies and Scumsters.
The tales - which include a lovelorn immigrant, an inspiring builder, a committed fan, a worrying mother and a man obsessed by a spot - will be read by a variety of actors from Kingston in the theatre's culture cafe this Sunday, October 6.
A previous recipient of the Arts Council Writer's Award and the Middlesex University Press Literary Prize, McCormick has been praised by the likes of Ruth Rendell, who called him: "An author who could one day be a master of the short form."
He has also just been named the winner of the first Liverpool international open short story competition, for his piece Swallows.
