An Indian summer golf day has been hailed a “stunning success” after raising more than £6,000 for the Cottage Appeal at Whiteley Village.
Sixteen teams of four, including a specially invited team of residents from the village, played at Burhill Golf Club for a number of prizes, although none won the hole-in-one star prize; an Audi TT Roadster.
Ken Schofield CBE, former chief executive of the European Tour. addressed the golfers during lunch in the clubhouse on Wednesday, October 2.
Captain of the Whiteley Village Team Terri Pottinger said: “It was a superb day’s golf and made a wonderful change from playing on our own course, which only has six holes.”
More than 500 people live in the retirement village and are partly sustained by charitable donations.
