A thug who broke a man's hip and then took advantage of his immobile victim by burgling him has been jailed along with an accomplice.
Paul Hart, 37, lived with his victim in a complex for people with drug problems in Batley Close, Hackbridge.
He kicked in the older man's door and entered his flat at 4am on May 5 and then subjected his victim to a vicious assault,.
He had beaten and slapped the man so badly he broke his hip and left him helpless on the floor.
He also took the 53-year-old's wallet and mobile phone so he could not call for help.
Two days later, while the victim was still immobile, Hart climbed into his flat through a window with an accomplice, 34-year-old Benjamin Quilter, who was also living at the complex. The pair ransacked the man's flat.
A worker arrived at the flat later that day to find the devastation. Police were called and visited Hart who was found with items of his victim's property.
The pair were jailed at Croydon Crown Court. Hart was sentenced to five years in jail after admitting GBH and burglary while Quilter was sentenced to 16 months in jail after admitting theft.
