A 19-year-old man was hit in the face robbed of his iPhone and jacket in Walton by a group of youths last week.
The victim was walking along Molesey Road, close to the junction with Rydens Grove, at about 9pm on Friday, October 4, and stopped at a bus stop to talk to a young woman he knew.
Shortly after, a group of young men approach him, shouting and swearing, before surrounding him.
The group then hit him several times in the face and body and stole his white iPhone 5 and black North Face jacket.
Detective Constable Jamie Spooner, investigating officer, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim that will no doubt stay with him for some time.
“A group of young men and women were also seen running down Molesey Road following the attack and I would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, witnessed the incident or know who the individuals may be to contact us as a matter of urgency.
“We will do all we can to find those responsible to bring the offenders to justice.”
Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EL/13/6667 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
