A teacher from Cobham walked all over cancer to celebrate her survival of the disease at a night-time walking marathon.
Emma Johns, 35, had triple negative breast cancer diagnosed in September 2012 and underwent a double mastectomy in February this year.
Mrs Johns put everything behind her and joined her friend Sasha Blacker and 16,000 other people to walk the streets of London with glow sticks and brightly-coloured outfits to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Mrs Johns said: “Shine was a great experience. Unfortunately I didn’t make it all the way round.
"I managed 15 miles and then realised I was going to exhaust myself. I decided to be sensible and stop.
“Sasha on the other hand, was amazing. She stormed the whole marathon even with a 40-minute stop to wait for me to be picked up. She is a true star.”
The Shine walking night time marathon is now in its third year in London and hopes to raise £3.5m for the charity.
