An award-winning jazz artist will be entertaining audiences in Leatherhead later this month.

Clare Teal, who has spent a decade frequenting the jazz charts and playing to audiences across the country, will be in town with her show, Divas and Me, which celebrates the music of her heroines.

She will pay homage to Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Doris Day and many of their contemporaries, demonstrating the influence these characters have had on her own work.

With wit and warmth, Teal tells outrageous anecdotes of their extraordinary lives and points to the future of ‘divadom’ with a few relevant originals and more modern day covers.

Teal, who hosts two weekly Radio 2 programmes, formed her own label MUD Records in 2009 releasing three critically acclaimed albums - Live At Ebenezer Chapel, Hey Ho and And So It Goes.

This Christmas she will release her long-awaited first ever Christmas record, Jing, Jing-a-Ling.

Teal will be accompanied by her band for the show, which is led by pianist and musical director Grant Windsor.
