Three people have been banned from pubs in Elmbridge.

Members of Walton and Hersham Pub Watch approved two banning notices at their recent monthly meeting.

A 36-year-old woman from Walton who threw glasses around the Regent, Church Street, and a 47-year-old man from Addlestone who slapped a staff member in the face at Morts Wine Bar, Bridge Street, were both handed bans.

A 35-year-old man from Claygate who assaulted a staff member at Rocksalt, Church Street, Esher, was also given a ban at a meeting of the Esher Pub Watch.

The bans apply to all pubs, bars and other licensed premises in each area which are members of the Pub Watch scheme and will be reviewed annually.

The Pub Watch schemes are made up of licensees and representatives from Surrey Police, Elmbridge Council and the community safety partnership, who offer support to the efforts in reducing crime and antisocial behaviour.

Peter Kipps, Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership manager, said: “Pubwatches are proving themselves to be very effective in taking a stand against antisocial and even criminal behaviour.

“Those who are members are clearly taking their responsibilities to the wider community seriously and by working together they can have a greater impact on the behaviour of those they have banned.”

There are five Pub Watch groups in Elmbridge; Walton and Hersham, Esher, Cobham, Weybridge and Molesey, and premises interested in joining should email communitysafety@elmbridge.gov.uk.
