Trading standards officers are warning shoppers cheap mobile and laptop chargers can be lethal.
An investigation found a high number of faulty chargers are on sale, leading to the prosecution of several traders.
Wandsworth Council officers netted a haul of about 1,000 phone chargers and more than 200 laptop chargers deemed unsafe during the investigation.
Many of the goods were also counterfeit.
Several traders were prosecuted for breaching consumer safety laws, while their hazardous stock was seized and destroyed.
Kamalijeet Singh Gurwara, who owned DD-Phones Ltd in Broadway Market, Tooting High Street, was given a two year conditional discharge for offences against his company.
He was also fined £2,000, including a £15 victim surcharge.
Muneer Ul Haq Kaleem, of the Tooting Mobile Shop in Bates Crescent, pleaded guilty to 11 offences.
His lawyer said he was not aware the chargers were counterfeit or dangerous, with the supplier taking advantage of his lack of electrical knowledge.
A judge handed him a two year conditional discharge, including a fine of £1,849 and a £15 victim surcharge.
Said Khan, of the Khan Mobile Shop, Tooting High Street, admitted 12 offences.
He was also given a two year conditional discharge and made to pay £1,011 towards the council's prosecution costs, as well as a £15 victim surcharge.
