Fancy becoming an overseas volunteer?

International development charity Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is holding a free open evening at its new headquarters in Kingston next week.

Volunteers returned from abroad will be on hand to give personal accounts of their time with the organisation, and there will be a presentation on the practicalities of volunteering.

VSO runs volunteering projects in more than 30 countries including Ethiopia, Ghana, Nepal and Thailand.

Placements can last from six months to two years and cover several sectors including animal welfare, communications, fundraising, health, IT management and social development.

The open evening will be held at VSO’s new offices in London Road, Kingston, from 7pm to 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 15. Doors open from 6.15pm.

The event is free but places must be booked.
