Police are upping their patrols in Cheam following a recent spate of burglaries.
Sutton police officers will be carrying out uniformed and plain clothes patrols to catch burglars who have broken into five homes over the last two weeks.
Burglars targeted three properties in Burdon Lane, one in Sandy Lane and another in Devon Road.
The burglars smashed rear doors and windows between 8am and 4pm stealing money and jewellery.
Officers from the Cheam Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) have given up their rest days to carry out the patrols.
PC Donna Williams, of Cheam SNT, said: “It’s very important for residents to call 999 if they see anyone they don’t recognise acting suspiciously near their own or their neighbours’ properties.
“Residents should also call us if they hear an unexpected loud bang or series of bangs or smashing glass from next door when they know the owners are at work or away.
“If it doesn’t look right, or feel right, call us.”
She urged residents to capture as much detail as possible when calling the police about a burglary.
