Old Walcountians 8
Old Whitgiftians 43

Old Whitgiftians took the honours in this local clash on Saturday.

Left winger Jordan got the visitors off to the best possible start with an early try, before penalty goals were exchanged making it 8-3.

The score remained the same at the break, but Old Whitgiftians were a more dtermined outfit when the sides returned after the interval.

A quick penalty on the hosts' 22 was taken by Woods and passed out to Bloxham who cut through the unwary defenders and made a perfect pass inside to Colletta in admirable support to score. Colletta's conversion made it 15-3.

Barnett added a converted try minutes later to increase their advantage before Walcountians centre Van Rhyn reduced the deficit.

The next try would be vital and it was Old Whits who got it.

Adkin picked up a loose ball and raced half the length of the pitch down the left touchline to score. Colletta converted to make it 29-8.

Both sides were now fairly worn out in the heavy conditions so the Old Whits decided to play soccer. Donaher kicked through the first line of defence and dribbled past three men to score.

A moment later Jordan played the ball upfield and Donaher dribbled through again, reviving a former Rugby skill.

Colletta converted both giving him a personal total of 18 points which he thoroughly deserved.

In summary, a great match between two good sides.
